In a small space of just 20 square meters, over 1,600 postcards dedicated to Rome and its history are collected and displayed.
Black-and-white and color postcards, sent or kept in drawers, telling the story of this magnificent city's evolution — to those who live here and those far away.
The collection was born from the passion for Rome and for travel of architect Andrea d’Antrassi and his team of young creatives, who over many years gathered the postcards now on display — acquiring them from private collectors and scouring vintage markets around the world.
A gallery of images that reveal how Rome has been lived, described, and dreamed of over time — documents of a past that has sometimes vanished, yet often still lingers. For a long time, the postcard was a symbol of travel: an essential keepsake of every journey, a testament to places seen and emotions felt.

Stepping into The Smallest Museum by URBS is like taking a journey through time, exploring the city of Rome through the eyes of people from all over the world. It’s impossible not to be drawn in by the many images on the walls, to immerse yourself in the memories of perfect strangers, to feel their sweet promises or their heartbreaking farewells.
The museum is not only a place of exhibition, but also a source of inspiration where the most creative minds come together. The idea was born not just to preserve and archive the past, but to make it relevant today and project it into the future.
The vintage postcards become a source of reinterpretation and experimentation for a talented team of creatives who reflect, explore, and create starting from the theme of the city—transforming them into illustrated stories. These unique creations can be purchased and mailed from our very own postbox. Discover here..
Come and enjoy an immersive experience at The Smallest Museum by URBS!
